Reba Desonier, PT, DPT
Reba Desonier, originally from Pickering, Louisiana joined the Hope Therapy team in April 2017. Reba’s desire to become a physical therapist began early in life. She experienced the patient-side of physical therapy with her own sports-related injuries, and watched her grandfather recover from a stroke through physical rehabilitation. Reba says watching her grandfather return to doing what he loved, being in his garden, after many months of therapy is the moment she knew physical therapy was the career path she wanted to pursue in life. Her desire is to help others in the same way and allow them the opportunity to return to doing what they love through the practice of physical therapy.
Reba received her undergraduate education at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana where she graduated with a baccalaureate of science degree in Athletic Training. Reba played collegiate basketball all four years while attending Louisiana College. During her time there she rehabilitated collegiate athletes of all sports as an Athletic Training student, and then went on to work with the Louisiana College athletes as a certified Athletic Trainer for one year prior to beginning physical therapy school. Reba attended Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana where she graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in May of 2011. Since graduating, Reba has practiced in multiple settings treating a wide variety of patients, including collegiate and NFL athletes, with her passion being rehabilitating sports related and orthopedic injuries, including post operative patients. She became certified in functional dry needling in November of 2016, and also has extended training in the application of kinesiology tape to enhance functional movement.
Reba now enjoys living in Lake Charles, being married to her husband Dane of 3 years, loving on their 2 dogs Remy and Bella, and participating in Cross Fit.
