Kristen Marcantel
Kristen Marcantel is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist at Hope Therapy Center. Speech pathology is wider than pronunciation. It covers the language a child has not developed yet, the sounds that will not come out clearly, reading and writing difficulty including dyslexia and dysgraphia, swallowing and feeding, and the speech, language and voice an adult has to rebuild after a stroke or alongside Parkinson's disease. Kristen works across that range, with children and with adults, which is why one family may bring a toddler to her and another may bring a parent.

How therapy with Kristen works.
The first appointment is an evaluation. Kristen tests and observes, then talks with you, or with the parent, about what is actually hard in daily life rather than what is hard on a form. The goals she sets after that are ones you can recognize when they happen: the word produced, the sentence understood, the sound corrected, the meal swallowed safely, the voice strong enough to be heard across a room. Sessions run 30 to 60 minutes, one on one, and most people attend two to three visits a week. She reassesses regularly, so you can see whether the plan is moving instead of guessing. The front office verifies your specific benefits, deductible and visit limits before your first appointment, so you know what you will owe before you walk in.
